Greencube in the patient room

Greencube reaches the patient's bedside through several device options, so clinicians can consult and update the record in the room itself. Each option carries different trade-offs in mobility, privacy, cost, and functional coverage.

Purpose

Bringing the system into patients' rooms is aimed at increasing quality, bolstering efficiency, and raising the perceived quality of care, and directly benefits both doctors and nurses. Whatever the device, access is available anywhere with an internet connection and meets information security standards.

Device options

Four form factors are supported. Smartphones and tablets can be used from the patient's bed or anywhere else, run on personal or company devices at reduced cost, and keep information private to the professional, though typing on a phone can be inconvenient. Trolleys reuse existing equipment and run Greencube in its entirety with a full keyboard, but are limited in number, restricted to hospitalisation areas, and can expose information if left open. TV arm installations also run the complete system at the bedside, but offer the least privacy, since the screen can be seen by the patient and visitors.

What can be done at the bedside

All options allow professionals to view a summary of the patient's health record and full clinical history, manage appointment and surgery schedules, request and respond to cross-consultations, and review radiology and other test requests. Mobile devices add text message alerts; trolleys and TV arms add the complete desktop feature set. Centres typically combine options to match ward layouts and working patterns, alongside the dedicated nursing and professionals apps.
